Spanish Classes Offered at SCOW

Adult Choir Festival

We Stand With ALICE Legislative Forum

Description: On Monday, February 25, Connecticut United Ways and the Commission on Women,Children and Seniors will hold an ALICE legislative forum on working families that still struggle to make ends meet as well as strategies to help these families achieve financial security. ALICE stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed.

The event will run from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in Room 2E of the Legislative Office Building (LOB), at 300 Capital Avenue in Hartford.

The course is taught by a certified instructor. Everyone gets a course book, face shield key chain, and an electronic 2-year certificate (upon passing the class!). Students will need to provide a valid email for their certificate.

AAC Complimentary Community Support Program for Family Recovery

Renaissance - Revive the Arts Program

Description: Mission Statement- The Arts community coming together to help create an "Arts District" in Downtown Meriden.

"Renaissance" is a monthly event hosted by artists, for artists, in a venue that is like no other in Connecticut. Silver City Ballroom is an architectural masterpiece with an unbelievable lighting system that will showcase art in unimaginable ways. Renaissance will open your mind to future possibilities. A night filled with drinks, music, fashion, singing, dancing, and live art that will grow each month to become CT's most unique and exciting monthly event. THINK BIG! This is YOUR EVENT! TAKE CHARGE! COLLABORATE! The possibilities are endless!

With your support and $20 admission, you will get the chance to be awarded funding for a visual art project within the "Meriden Arts District". Awards are granted at each Renaissance event, including monthly exposure for your art at participating businesses, and be a featured artist at our next Renaissance event. This is your chance to meet other artists, get funding, get exposure and sell your art.

A short 5 minute presentation will start at 8pm.

Description: Connecticut is in the process of adopting the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Food Code.

This class will help prepare your food service establishment meet the new Certified Food Protection Manager requirements (formerly Qualified Food Operator).

This class will be facilitated by Environmental Health staff using Prometric training materials.

Classes are 8 hours total divided into 2 halfday trainings. Attendance at both days is required.

Early 2019 Class Dates: Classes in English will be on: March 4 (8:00am to 1:00pm) AND March 11 (8:00am to 11:00am)

Classes in Spanish will be on: March 18 (8:00am to 1:00pm) AND March 25 (8:00am to 11:00am)

Attendance at both days is REQUIRED.
