WBDC: Business Planning for Food-Preneurs

Monday, April 1, 2024 through Monday, May 20, 2024 at 5:30 PM–7:30 PM

Description: Business Planning for Food-Preneurs (BPF) is designed to help you plan, expand and grow your food business. This program is seeking food entrepreneurs who have recently launched and started to sell their products (such as a food truck, catering company, or food product line).

Each of the highly interactive 8 sessions focus on a critical aspect of business development, including marketing, sales, and finance. Included in the course is one-on-one mentoring and an opportunity to apply for a $2,500 WBDC Launch Pad Grant.

Accepted applicants receive a 6-month subscription to LivePlan, the world's leading business plan writing software (a $240 value).

Classes are on Monday's - April 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th, May 6th, 13th, and 20th, 2024

WBDC: Marketing Fundamentals (7-Part Series)

Description: Gain a comprehensive understanding of marketing and the tools to develop a strategic marketing plan. This interactive 7-session course is for business owners looking for instruction, support, and expert advice on marketing principles and the ability to put them into action.

The course culminates with a peer-to-peer review session giving you access to a live focus group and actionable feedback. You will leave this course with a comprehensive marketing plan and tactics which you can put in place immediately to help grow your business.

Classes are on Wednesday's - April 10th, 17th, 24th, May 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd, 2024.

Girls Inc. - Girls Who Design - 4 Week Workshop

Description: Girls Inc. presents a 4-week workshop on Thursdays where girls (ages 8+) will activate their brains using Girls Inc. Operation SMART curriculum! Visioning Series Strategic Track 1: The Economic Development Market Place

Description: The Meriden Economic Development Corporation (MEDCO), the Meriden Office of Economic and Community Development and the Midstate Chamber of Commerce will hold a (joint) series of strategic planning events during the spring of 2024. The purpose of the event is to begin the development an economic development strategy for the City and MEDCO for the next 3-5 years.

Presentation and conversation about current real estate and business sector conditions in Meriden and in the region.

Topics will include but not be limited to:

  • Market conditions and trends,
  • Current real estate challenges (i.e. vacant commercial space, via COVID and the Amazon effect)
  • Business Sector conditions and challenges (health care, insurance etc)
  • Market Effects: i.e. Housing and Transportation, Climate Change
