As part of Bradley's expansion plans, and in order to meet new Federal standards, CT DOT decided in 1999 to move the existing Federal Inspection Station out of the cramped quarters in Terminal "B" into a new dedicated building which now sits a few hundred feet to the South of Terminal "B" as you exit the Airport. Bradley is also hopping the new International terminal will attract an airline who would offer regular scheduled flights to Europe from Hartford.

After a competition in which LaRosa's design and cost were judged against those submitted by other firms, all of whom had national and international airport experience, LaRosa was selected by CT DOT.

This $7,700,000 project was both designed and constructed by LaRosa under the same contract. The building consists of 30,000 sq. ft. on 3 floors. It was designed under exacting standards of the four branches of the Federal government who are housed in the terminal. U.S. Immigration, Customs, Public Health, and Agriculture all operate to clear passengers entering the U.S. through Bradley.

LaRosa Building Group worked very closely with CT DOT as well as all 4 Federal agencies throughout this complex project, which incorporated safety and security features resulting from the events of 9/11. Even though the original design was complete prior to 9/11, and many changes needed to be incorporated, LaRosa Building Group still succeeded in completing the project 3 months ahead of schedule.

LaRosa Building Group had also completed the new 20,000 sq. ft. Fire & Rescue Station at Bradley Airport in 1999.

LaRosa Building Group is currently constructing facilities for Southwest Airlines in the new terminal and concourse at Bradley.

LaRosa Building Group LLC was formed in 1979 by Robert and Carmela LaRosa. Originally named R.N.LaRosa Corp., the company performed a wide range of residential and business projects. In the 90's, LaRosa shifted emphasis into municipal work, specializing in school construction, but also completing Town Halls, Fire Stations, Health Care facilities, Historic Renovations, as well as a mix of office and industrial projects.
