Preparations for the United States Census 2000 have begun. Please get the message out to your staff and their families that it is critically important to stand up and be counted. Some expected changes as a result of the Census are the allocation of seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and the allocation of Billions of Federal and State dollars for programs such as transportation, education and job training. WE MUST BE COUNTED.In order to help increase the participation, you may advise your employees that only the aggregate statistical data will be shared. All of the individual names and responses are completely confidential and will not be shared, not even with other Governmental Agencies, for 70 years.
In addition, if your staff needs a few weeks of part time work in the spring and early summer, please contact the Chamber and or Tom Loin at City Hall for details.
