Meriden-Wallingford Chrysalis is a non-profit agency serving women, men and their children who have experienced domestic violence. We have embarked on a Capital Fund Campaign to raise funds for a new Emergency Shelter, with a goal of $444,444.Our current fifteen-bed shelter housed over 200 women and their children last year. It has provided a safe place for these families to escape domestic violence while receiving support, counseling and advocacy from professionally trained staff.
The current shelter has been used by Chrysalis for twenty years, and is in need of major repairs - electrical, plumbing, roofing, etc., as well as having borne the wear and tear of constant usage. The building was also never designed as a shelter, with the layout of the rooms being incompatible with a smoothly function program.
We are therefore, asking for support from our local caring community for this important project. A one-time gift or commitment spread over a two-three year period would be greatly appreciated. If you or your organization would like to do a special fund-raising event for us, we would like to hear from you about your ideas and plans.
