City Councilor Stephen T. Zerio announced today the creation of a web log, or blog, titled "Meriden City Council Talk."

"I've been interested in ways of improving dialogue and communication with the public. Obviously I talk with people in various meetings, field phone calls and answer emails when I receive them, read the letters to the editor at the R-J and comments on the City's website," said the Council's Majority Leader. "But more and more people are reading and writing blogs on the internet these days, and I thought it would be a good thing to try."

A self-proclaimed novice as a blogger, Zerio got the idea from a news article he read earlier this year. "I sat down this Wednesday night watching the Olympics and followed instructions found on www.blogger.com."

Zerio's first post introduces the concept and objective for the blog, to be used as another forum for councilors and the public to discuss issues affecting the city. He's invited other city councilors to join in as contributors, or team members.

"I hope I can keep up with it. I have a new appreciation of what it's like to put out a periodical on a regular basis. It's really more of a journal, but one that you can get feedback on. I hope it works.

The blog can be accessed at www.talk-meriden.blogspot.com.
