Congratulations to administrator Molly Savard, who has just been named the chairwoman for the board of MidState Medical Center. Molly has recently completed her term as chairman of the Chamber's Board of Directors. Attention to quality care has become a priority for the hospital, which has been recently recognized by a national survey. MidState showed a modest profit this year, at a time when Medicare reform, tough cost controls by managed care insurers and modest state Medicaid reimbursements caused financial losses to many hospitals. Molly has a long-term tradition of serving her community, and believes that the Hospital will continue to do so. It benefits from having merged with Hartford Hospital and becoming a subsidiary of Hartford Health Care Corp. However, the parent company allows a great amount of flexibility in running the local agency and maintains cordial relations. The Chamber wishes the best of luck to Molly and thanks her for her wonderful leadership and hopes she continues her involvement in the Chamber.
