Meriden Center, part of Genesis Health Care, is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. John S Zesk to its staff as consulting cardiologist. Dr. Zesk will oversee Meriden's Cardiac Management Program, and provide in- house rounds for patients in the Cardiac Management Program. Linda Garcia, Administrator of Meriden Center, located on Paddock Avenue in Meriden, announced Dr. Zesk's affiliation with Meriden Center at her Medical Staff Meeting on June 13, 2006. Joseph Tomanelli is the Medical Director for Meriden Center, and will also play an integral role in the Program.

According to Dr. Zesk, Meriden Center's Cardiac Management Program is an important piece in the cardiac care continuum. After any medical event which requires a patient go to Mid State Medical Center or outlier hospital for an in-patient procedure and subsequent hospital stay, it is often necessary that the patient then continue rehabilitation at a sub-acute facility, such as Meriden Center. The specialized cardiac nursing care along with the focused education at Meriden Center is designed for the cardiac patient to be successful in their road to recovery to achieve better outcomes and be prepared to transition into Phase II, the Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation program at Mid State Medical Center.

Meriden Center is a favored provider of cardiac management services, said Dr. Zesk, because the team subscribes to important cardiac rehabilitation principles. This includes a motivated interdisciplinary staff, with leadership by Marie Lanzillotti, RN, and Cardiac Program Manager, Deborah Stringer, LPN, APRN, Anne McLaughlin PT, Director of Rehabilitation and Kim Sadler, Director of Respiratory Services. Dr. Zesk also believes Meriden Center to be the best example in the area of patient oriented care and the perfect setting for recuperation and learning, and eventual return to home.

The Cardiac Management Program at Meriden Center is the bridge between hospital and home for cardiac patients. To learn more about the Cardiac Management Program, please contact Dr. Zesk at CACC, 203.284.3137 or Victoria Jaras, Director of Admissions at Meriden Center 203.238.2645 and ask to be put on our mailing list for the Heart Healthy programs or to receive information about the Meriden Center Cardiac Management Program.
