January 19, 2001Twelve women graduated from the Open DOHR program in December after they successfully completed the 12-week training. Open DOHR (Developing Opportunities in Human Resources) is in its fifth year at the center. It targets homemakers who wish to re-enter the workforce and be financially independent. The program teaches participants to set goals and work toward achieving them. Open DOHR offers computer training, keyboarding and mathematics, and refers clients to English as a Second Language and GED preparation. It also trains participants in life skills and employability. Elena Simon, employment and training coordinator for Open DOHR, was pleased at the program's success, especially since several of the graduates have already become employed.
