Project R.E.A.C.H. Shelter Opening

July 29, 2012

Earlier this year, WFC announced the addition of a new program Project R.E.A.C.H. shelter. Project R.E.A.C.H. Shelter is a 24 hour a day short term emergency shelter for youth ages 13-17 in south central Connecticut. The program has 6 beds in 3 Shelter Homes providing 24 hour supervision and support to the youth for up to 21 days. Project R.E.A.C.H. staff provide case management to program participants, including intake and assessment; individual, group and family short term supportive counseling; referrals and service linkages; exit planning, including referral and linkage to long term housing and supports; educational support; service learning and recreational opportunities; and aftercare as the youth move from homelessness to long term placement in a safe and stable environment.

R.E.A.C.H. approved its first shelter parent in April and sheltered our first client in June.

R.E.A.C.H. is actively recruiting shelter parents. If you are interested in learning more information contact John Johnson, Program Coordinator at jjohnson@womenfamilies.org or 203-235-9297 x.133.
