Because appearance is important when looking for a job, the Meriden YWCA Family Center has stepped forward to help women formerly-employed at the Napier Company look their best when interviewing for a position. "Gently-used" career-style clothing was delivered by YWCA representatives. The clothing is specifically-designated for women who were employed at the jewelry-making company. Through a federal grant, assistance can be provided in their job search for some and re-training programs for others. Rochelle Kingsley of the Meriden Business and Learning Institute and Shane Rood of the YWCA helped in organizaing a career closet for the women, thereby promoting an activity that goes directly to the mission of helping women become self-sufficient and productive.
