Open DOHR Graduates Hit the Ground Running

January 22, 2008

Eighteen Open DOHR participants from Meriden and neighboring towns graduated from the Certified Nurse Aide program at Middlesex Community College on December 11, 2007. Open DOHR has graduated 90 CNA students at Middlesex Community College since 2004. Upon completion of the CNA program graduates are licensed by the State Department of Public Health to work in a variety of skilled healthcare facilities including nursing homes, assisted living, hospitals, hospice, and homecare. In addition to this licensure graduates also receive job readiness training and job development services. With continued job growth across the state in all areas of healthcare these graduates meet the demand of the labor market and are well positioned to continue their education to earn advanced degrees in nursing and other areas of allied health. Open DOHR offers training programs to individuals at no charge through funding provided by the US Department of Labor. If you are between the ages of 18-21 and are interested in participating in the CNA program please contact the Women and Families Center Open DOHR program at (203) 235-9297. Classes begin in February, 2008 and space is limited.
