H.C. Wilcox Technical High School's Mission

February 24, 2014

Our mission at H.C. Wilcox Technical High School is to help prepare students for the future. An important element of that preparation involved the development of career skills. The school works to ensure that students have opportunities to access resources; develop knowledge and work habits required to become productive membes of society. Curricula address 21st Century literacy and numeracy skills which include workplace readiness, multiculturalism and service learning experiences. Blending the precepts of literacy, teamwork, leadership and diligence our 21st century curriculum intends to establish classrooms and technology areas of literacy, trust, respect, equality, and caring. Students are exposed to real world work environments through our thirteen trades. Programs designed to foster teamwork and ethical practice in our multicultural society. Student work teams from the service and construction trades are often out in the community providing a variety of services within their discipline.

Wilcox Technical High School has the full support of trade technology committee members and associations from throughout the region; the Small Manufacturers Association and the Connecticut Business and Industry Association among them. A growing work based learning program (WBL) has strong curricular links to business and industry in the region. Additional programs are integrated into our course of study thus, providing greater learning opportunities to work with the community at large. Our new 2014 school facility boasts new technology and opportunities for advanced learning. The construction project will be fully completed in late 2015.
