United Way of Meriden and Wallingford - Joe Baker, ...

United Way of Meriden and Wallingford - Joe Baker, Executive Director, has announced the appointment of the chairmen for the 2005-06 United Way of Meriden and Wallingford Annual Giving Campaign. This campaign provides funding for many important community programs in Meriden and Wallingford.

Bernard McLoughlin has been named chairman of the 2006 Campaign. McLoughlin, the former Director of Management Services for the State of CT for the past 30 years, is currently employed with Levey Miller Maretz Commercial Realtors. He graduated from Notre Dame High School-West Haven, Quinnipiac College and received his MBA from the University of New Haven. He is active in many public and volunteer services, including the North Haven Police Commissioner, and as V.P. of the Police Commissioners Association of CT, and President of the Association of Managerial Employee in the CT State Service, Inc. He has lived in North Haven for the last 28 years with his wife and son.

Carol Smullen, Vice Chair, currently works at Calcagni as a Realtor. She has over 20 years experience in marketing and public relations. She worked as the Marketing Director for Market New Haven, Inc. and was the Director of Advancement for the Girl Scouts, Connecticut Trails Council, Inc. Smullen is active in the local community, where she is a member of Habitat for Humanity Development Committee, and Association of Volunteer Administrators Awards Committee. She has a bachelor's degree in Education from Southern Connecticut State University. Carol currently resides in Meriden

John Mattingly, Vice Chair, is Vice President and Branch Manager of Hudson United Bank in Wallingford. He is a graduate of New Britain High School and CT State University. Mattingly is a former member of the Wallingford Family YMCA board of directors and past president of Wallingford Rotary and United Way of Meriden and Wallingford board of directors. He currently is treasurer for the Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce. Born in Lexington, Kentucky, Mattingly and his wife Susan reside in Meriden with their two children.

United Way of Meriden and Wallingford, established nearly 75 years ago, is a non-profit organization that helps people make a difference in our community through fundraising, giving and volunteer opportunities. United Way supports forty effective programs in the areas of youth development, emergency/crisis services, personal growth and independence and services for the elderly.

The United Way is a proud member of the Greater Meriden Chamber of Commerce and the Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce.
