UNITED WAY'S CHEF'S SHOWCASE RAISES OVER $4,700. United Way of Meriden and Wallingford Leadership Givers enjoyed an evening of fun and food at the Chef's Showcase & Silent Auction held recently at Delia, Inc. in Wallingford.

Channel 8 News, Matt Scott emceed the Chef's Showcase & Silent Auction and John Cortesi, Executive Chef, from the Four Points Sheraton Hotel led a team of chef's in a varied and entertaining summer cooking demonstration. Guests sampled diver scallops, grilled quail, fresh mozzarella and fresh escolar, a fish caught in the deep waters of Hawaii!

Guests were enticed by a variety of silent auction gifts that were donated by 60 area businesses and individuals. Delia, Inc. on Laser Lane in Wallingford, the premier kitchen design studio in Connecticut, created a delightful space for the event.

Area restaurants Carini's Pizzeria & Ristorante, 95 Gathering, Carriage House, Grand Apizza, Oakdale Pizza, Neil's Donut Shop & Pastry Shop Applebee's, Classic Catering, Gaetano's Tavern on Main, J and G Bakery, Marianna's Belltop Bakery, and Red Spice Blues & BBQ provided hearty hors d'oeuvres. Delia Inc., Valencia Discount Liquors, Tomassetti Distributors and Frank W. Ridley provided iquid refreshments.
