October 5, 2015

Boscov's exciting new department store in Westfield Meriden will officially open on Saturday, October 10, 2015.

Formal Ribbon Cutting festivities begin on Saturday morning at 9:30AM, with the lively music of the Orville H. Platt High School Marching Band. They will be followed by the gala grand opening ceremony. The ceremony will include celebrity guests Shirley Jones and Patrick Cassidy, classic cars from Saturday Nite Cruizers, local and state dignitaries and the cutting of two ribbons.

The first is a ribbon of $100 bills one for each member agency of the United Way of Meriden and Wallingford, and a $1,000 bill for the United Way itself. Representatives of each agency have been invited to cut off their $100 bill which symbolizes Boscov's intent to be an active, participating member of the community, and to use its resources to add to the good life in Central Connecticut.

The second ribbon cutting is a Hollywood style ceremony with celebrities and local dignitaries which officially opens the store and begins a four-week schedule of entertainment, register to win prizes, and fun and excitement that never ends. Shirley Jones in concert with her son Patrick Cassidy performing daily at 2PM and 7PM, Saturday, October 10 through Saturday, October 17, 2015, takes center stage in Boscov's Community Auditorium.

The true stars of the show are our co-workers ."We have hired over 300 people to staff our new Westfield Meriden store", Albert Boscov said, "We have found wonderful co-workers with the same friendly personalities and commitment to customer service that has made us the largest family owned department store in America." The new Boscov's in Meriden will be a full-service store with many more departments than are found in the typical department store these days. In addition our store will feature a Community Auditorium, Boscov said. Each Boscov's store has a strong community outreach program that includes offering the store's facilities to help meet the community's needs. Boscov's Public Relations department works closely with the local not-for-profit organizations and agencies of all sizes in an effort to aid the community.

Best known for its unique retailing style, Boscov's combines a vast assortment of fashion merchandise that includes both traditional labels and leading designer names. In addition to the vast range of departments normally found in department stores, Boscov's also features departments such as furniture, oriental carpets, candy, a gift department and more. They also provide services including a Vision Care to maintain the store's full-line' appeal. "Many stores that call themselves department stores really have become specialty stores," Boscov's said, "But we still believe in the traditional department store, where in one shopping trip, you can find everything you want." The Central Connecticut area is going to see very aggressive retailing that combines fun, fashion and service with incredible values and most important Honest Pricing throughout the store.
