Barker Animation Art Galleries celebrated Myron Waldman's 92nd birth day. Mr. Waldman is the co-creator of Betty Boop, and worked on Popeye, Raggedy Ann and classic Superman cartoons. During his last trip to the Netherlands and Belgium, he won the 1997 Windsor McCay Award, which is Hollywood's salute to lifetime achievement in animation. Also in attendance at Mr. Waldman's birthday was Fred Grandinetti, co-founder of the International Popeye Fan Club; he is also an author, artist and historian on Popeye. There are more than 40,000 items on display at the Barker Center that have been collected by Herb Barker and his wife, Gloria. So far this year, visitors from 22 states and our countries have come to view the museum.
