In the very near future, Michael Batista, vice president and general manager of Dunkin' Donuts, announced that a new shop will open at 57 South Broad Street in Meriden. The new building will be located north of Mad Hatter muffler shop and plans are that it will open in September. This will be the sixth shop in Meriden operated by the Batistas. The franchise business opened by Michael's father, Alberto, in 1979 and has grown steadily. The Batistas' five Dunkin' Donuts in the Meriden area serve about 35,000 customers.
