The Mall recently welcomed Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, on a guest visit as a spokesperson for Weight Watchers. Fergie was promoting her latest book, "Energy Breakthrough: Jump-Start Your Weight Loss and Feel Great," published by Simon & Schuster. She maintains that this is not a diet book but a way to feel good about yourself. Her visit to Meriden coincided with Weight Watchers' "Walk Around Connecticut" to raise food donations for the Connecticut Food bank. The food is needed because donations have been down in the aftermath of the September 11th attacks, said Suzanne Anderson, Weight Watchers' Eastern Region public relations manager.. Fergie walked around the mall with representatives of Weight Watchers and Connecticut Food Bank. She travels a great deal, but only stays at hotels with gyms, so she can fit in a workout. She is a lifetime member of Weight Watchers and regularly attends meetings. She has written several books on diet and exercise and is also a spokesperson for Wedgwood China.
