Looking for an Easy Access to Emergency Help On-the-Go?

June 29, 2015

Assisted Living Technologies offers both the eResponder and eCare devices which are similar in that they both function as small mobile personal emergency response units. With a push of a button your loved one gets help from a trained response center operator in the event of an emergency anywhere there is cellular service. Assisted Living Technologies offers two great solutions for mobile emergency response for seniors: eResponder and eCare. These products are great for seniors who are always on-the-go. They both are superior solutions, but there are some different features that you need to be aware of as you select a mobile emergency response unit.

Features of the eResponder solution: - Extremely long battery life, 2 months on a single charge - Small, lightweight and comfortable to wear - Has a built in microphone and speaker for 2-way communication - Can be worn in the shower (water resistant, but should not be submerged) - Works anywhere in the U.S. with cellular service - Can be located with U-TDOA

Features of eCare solution: - Two-way voice communication with powerful microphone and speaker to ensure call quality - Includes GPS technology for real-time tracking - Online portal provides caregivers real-time location information - Weighs less than 2 oz. and is water-resistant and durable - One low monthly fee includes: - Data charges - 24/7 access to emergency care specialists - Two-way voice communication through unit - eCare can easily be carried in pocket or purse or worn using included lanyard and attachment clips - No landline phone connection or base station required

The main difference between these two solutions is that eCare includes GPS tracking in real time and an online portal. Also, caregivers and family members can track their loved one at any time by logging into the portal. And because of the added GPS feature, the eCare device has a significantly lower battery life and must be charged more often than the eResponder.

With eResponder, the user can initiate help by pressing the device button in the event of an emergency. The eResponder then connects through cellular service to a trained call center operator. The individual's location is only revealed in the event of an emergency when connected to local emergency responders using UTDOA technology. Because it is not using GPS technology, the eResponder can last on one charge for approximately two months.

Overall, the eResponder can be tracked only by emergency personnel whereas the eCare can be tracked in real-time by family or caregivers by logging into the Web portal. This is something to consider if your loved one has a tendency to wander.
