Golden Horizons Tip for May - National Stroke Awareness Month

May is National Stroke Awareness Month. The National Stroke Association urged President George H. W. Bush to designate a period of time dedicated to spreading awareness of strokes. In 1989, on May 11, he signed the Presidential Proclamation 5975 which declared May to be National Stroke Awareness Month.

Golden Horizons Elder Care Services' tip for this month: is to do some research.. Maybe you know someone who has had a stroke. It affects many people. Research how you can avoid them - health, diet, exercise. What precautionary steps can you take? Research tips on how to be able to help a friend or loved one who has experienced a stroke. What can you do? What are good ways to encourage them?
