The Friends were featured in the April 2005 edition of the national periodical, Friends of Libraries USA. The article included information on the Friends' growth over the past 5 years and illustrated specific ventures in which the organization is involved, including The Heartbeat of the City TV show, sponsorship of a Soap Box Derby Car, Garden Tours, participation in countless Chamber and Community events, representation on community studies / projects, collaborations with Middlesex Community College, Augusta Curtis Cultural Center, Gallery 53, and Fischers' Fine Foods, to name a few. The Friends' support of pre-school and youth groups, their website, book donations, and more were also highlighted. The editor's note encouraged the readers of the publication to take note of this successful organization and to "think of all the fresh and innovative ways your group can become central to your community."
