Award Winning Journalist Katie Couric to Headline 2023 Travelers Championship Women's Day Breakfast

April 24, 2023

The Travelers Championship today announced that award-winning journalist and bestselling author Katie Couric will headline this year's Women's Day Breakfast. The event will take place Thursday morning, June 22, at TPC River Highlands, and proceeds will benefit tournament charities, including primary beneficiary The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp.

"The Women's Day Breakfast is a tournament week tradition that typically sells out," said Travelers Championship Tournament Director Nathan Grube. "With featured guests like Katie Couric, I'm expecting this year to be no different. From broadcasting to philanthropy to entrepreneurship, we're looking forward to hearing Katie's story.

Travelers is once again the presenting sponsor of the Women's Day Breakfast. ConnectiCare will return as the supporting sponsor, and Hartford HealthCare and Red Thread | Steelcase will serve as event partners.

"Our goal with Women's Day has always been to encourage more women to come out to the course and see what the Travelers Championship is all about - it's a can't miss event with world-class competition that does so much for our community," said Diane Kurtzman, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Travelers. "Over the years, the Women's Day Breakfast has hosted thousands of women and helped to raise money for some truly incredible charities. It's a morning filled with remarkable speakers and opportunities to meet and inspire other women, and we can't wait for this year's."

Katie Couric is an award-winning journalist and No. 1 New York Times bestselling author of her memoir, "Going There," which was published in October 2021. She is also a co-founder of Stand Up To Cancer, which has raised more than $700 million for cancer research. Couric was the first woman to solo anchor a network evening newscast, serving as anchor and managing editor of the "CBS Evening News" from 2006 to 2011, following 5 years as co-anchor of NBC's "Today" show. In 2017, she founded Katie Couric Media, which has developed a number of media projects, including the daily newsletter "Wake-Up Call," the podcast "Next Question," a digital video series and several documentaries.

Additional speakers and details about the event will be announced soon. Women's Day Breakfast tickets will be limited to two per person and will include general admission and parking to the tournament's first round of competition on Thursday, June 22. Details on ticket availability will be shared in the weeks ahead.
