Latinas & Power is delighted to welcome Liberty Bank as a 2022 Presenting Sponsor

January 25, 2022

First, I would like to wish you a happy and prosperous 2022! With the unprecedented challenges we have faced over the past two years, I am hopeful that this new year finds us all in good health, practicing self-care, and moving in bold new directions.

Second, I am writing to share some exciting news. Liberty Bank has deepened its commitment to Latinas & Power Corp. (LPC) by becoming a 2022 Presenting Sponsor. Among the programs that this gift will support are our 19th annual Latinas & Power Symposium, scheduled for June 2 at the Marriott Downtown Hartford, and our newest national learning platform, the Latinas in Leadership Institute (LiLI).

I am particularly excited that Liberty Bank's leadership is embracing the work we do relative to building the pipeline of leaders and advocates. The results of the 2020 census show that the Latino population in the U.S. grew by 23% since 2010. There are now 62 million Latino Americans comprising the second-largest ethnic demographic in the nation. In Connecticut, where LPC is headquartered, the Latino population jumped from 13.4% to 17.3% in the last decade to now 540,00 residents. Despite the enormous impact of this growth on the national and regional economy, the Latino community still remains underpaid and underrepresented in leadership positions, homeownership, and access to economic opportunities. Liberty Bank's partnership with LPC contributes to our mission of closing these gaps.

Liberty Bank President and CEO David W. Glidden states, "By working together with our customers, teammates and communities, Liberty Bank continues to reinforce the importance of fostering and maintaining an environment that makes everyone feel welcomed, appreciated, valued and celebrated. This includes making key investments in organizations, programs, partnerships and activities focused on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. We look forward to deepening our partnership with Latinas & Power Corp. as a Presenting Sponsor of their 2022 Symposium. Together, we will improve more lives in Greater Hartford through financial literacy, affordable housing, credit building, savings opportunities, and fulfilling other personal and business banking needs."
