Masonicare's hospice program includes a team of interdisciplinary hospice care specialists who work in the home, hospital setting or extended care facility to help ease physical, spiritual and psychosocial pain at the end of life. This provides patients and their families the chance to enjoy every moment that remains.

In making the announcement, Susan Adams, Vice President of Masonicare Home Health & Hospice said, "We are delighted to welcome Dr. Alessandro to Masonicare. His knowledge, work experience and long-standing community service make him a valuable addition to our Masonicare hospice and palliative care team."

Dr. Alessandro earned his undergraduate degree from Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, PA. He earned his medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his internship and residency at Peninsula Hospital Center in Rockaway, NY where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Alessandro is one of only a few physicians in Connecticut who are Board-certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Connecticut Osteopathic Medical Society, American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, and American Osteopathic Association.

Dr. Alessandro limits his practice to geriatrics and is medical director at several local skilled nursing facilities. He previously founded and ran a family practice in Brooklyn, CT.

"I am thrilled to join Masonicare, and look forward to working with such a caring and skilled hospice team. Hospice care can make such a difference to patients and families at the end of life, and I feel privileged to be a part of their care,"" Dr. Alessandro said.
