Melinda Schoen of Wallingford Named Vice President of Administration for Masonicare Health Center in Wallingford

March 6, 2012

Melinda J. Schoen, RN, MSN, LNHA, has been named Vice President for Administration at Masonicare Healthcare Center. William C. Piper, Masonicare's Executive Vice President and COO, made the announcement.

Ms. Schoen began her career with Masonicare in 1996, when she joined the nursing staff at Masonicare Health Center. During her tenure, she progressed through various levels of nursing management, most recently serving as Vice President of Nursing for the past four years. In her role as Vice President for Administration, Ms. Schoen will serve as administrator for both long-term care and hospital units at Masonicare Health Center.

Ms. Schoen received her RN degree from St. Vincent's College of Nursing in Bridgeport, a Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix, and she is a graduate of Quinnipiac University, where she received post-graduate certification in Long-Term Care Administration.

In making the announcement, Mr. Piper said, "Melinda's many years of managerial and hands-on clinical experience, in addition to her broad knowledge of the programs and systems currently in place throughout the Health Center, make her very well positioned to assume this important role. Melinda has always been a strong advocate for our residents and patients, as well as our staff. She has been a major contributor to the success of Masonicare Health Center."

Ms. Schoen has membership in several professional healthcare organizations, including The American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordinators, the Case Management Academy, Connecticut Nurse's Association, National Association of Directors of Nursing, the Organization of Nurse Executives, CT, and the American College of Healthcare Administrators. She is also on the Steering Committee for the statewide Nightingale Awards for Excellence in Nursing. Ms. Schoen and her husband, David, and their children reside in Wallingford.
