Schaefer-Garvey Named Director

Kim Schaefer-Garvey of Milford has been named Director, Group Practice Operations, for Wallingford-based Masonicare. In this role, she will be responsible for the inpatient and outpatient operations of the Masonicare Primary Care Physicians and Masonicare Behavioral Health group practices, located on the Masonicare campus in Wallingford. She will also oversee and direct the operations of the Outpatient Clinic and the Geriatric Assessment Program at Masonic Healthcare Center in Wallingford. James Standish, Masonicare's Senior Vice President for Finance and CFO, made the announcement. Ms. Schaefer-Garvey has close to 20 years experience in the healthcare field, improving operational performance in various medical group practices, including multi-site practices. Ms. Garvey began her professional career as a research assistant at Columbia University in the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She holds a BS in Biology from Fordham University and an MBA in Healthcare Management from Sacred Heart University. In making the announcement, Mr. Standish said, "Kim has an impressive record and experience in the successful management of a variety of physician practices. Her competence and expertise will serve us well as we continue to provide our outstanding healthcare services to the community, as well as to our residents and patients. We're very pleased to welcome Kim to Masonicare."Ms. Schaefer-Garvey has been a member of the Board of Directors of St. Mary's School in Milford since 2006, and has served as Chair of the school's Advancement Committee since 2007. She and her husband, Michael, and her daughter are residents of Milford. Masonicare is Connecticut's leading not-for-profit provider of senior healthcare and retirement living. In addition to the medical practices, Masonicare's affiliates include Ashlar of Newtown in Newtown and Ashlar Village and Masonic Healthcare Center in Wallingford, and Connecticut VNA, Connecticut VNA Partners, and The Masonic Charity Foundation of Connecticut.
