April 13, 2014

Keith Wiemert, President/CEO of Seasons FCU, was named Connecticut's Credit Union Professional of the Year at the Credit Union League of Connecticut's 80th Annual Meeting Wednesday, April 2.

Wiemert, who also spent more than six months of 2013 serving as the League's Interim CEO, was nominated through a collaborative effort of employees at Seasons FCU who described Wiemert as a strong mentor "committed to reinventing credit unions for the next generation."

"Connecticut's credit unions have benefited tremendously from the leadership exemplified by Keith Wiemert," said Jill Nowacki, President/CEO of the Credit Union League of Connecticut. "He is committed to the success of others, which has served the staff of Seasons FCU and the League very well, leading both organizations to stronger positions because of his guidance. This commitment extends to increasing the success of all Connecticut credit unions, and his dedication to working together makes Keith stand out."

Volunteer of the Year, Political Action, and Outstanding Board Service Awards were also presented:

Hank Petroskey, Chairman of the Board at United Shoreline FCU was presented the Volunteer of the Year Award for his exemplary service to the credit union industry and to his community. Petroskey has served the credit union for 14 years, and is an active member of Connecticut's Financial Reality Fair Foundation, a 501-c-3 affiliate of the League that has brought Financial Reality Fairs to nearly 15,000 Connecticut students.

Michael Hinchey, President/CEO, Wepawaug-Flagg FCU was honored with the 2013 Political Action Award. The award recognizes individuals who demonstrated outstanding support of credit union advocacy efforts. This year, Hinchey displayed exceptional leadership in political action through engaging in grassroots advocacy, providing political testimony, and leading the way in Connecticut's CULAC fundraising.

Kathy Chartier, Director of the Stamford Chapter, and CEO of Members FCU was recognized for completing 23 years of service as a League Board Member. During her tenure, Chartier served in a number of capacities, including Board Chair and Interim CEO.

Over the course of the Annual Meeting and during a reorganization meeting immediately after, results of the League Board elections were announced and new table officers were elected. Gail Todd, President/CEO of Greenwich Municipal EFCU was newly elected to a three-year term on the Board. John Keet, President/CEO of Personal Care America FCU and Wiemert were re-elected to three year terms.

These members join: Hinchey, Stuart Phillips, President/CEO UBI FCU; Vincent Ciambriello, President/CEO, Sikorsky Financial CU; Mark Cornacchio, President/CEO, First Bristol FCU; Cheryl Dunaj, VP-Operations, Scient FCU; Mike Williamson, CEO/Manager, Greater Hartford Police FCU.

Officers were re-elected to one-year terms in their current positions. Wiemert will continue to serve as Chair; Hinchey as Vice-Chair; Phillips as Treasurer; and Keet as Secretary.

Since 1935, Connecticut credit unions have unified under the umbrella of one statewide trade association, conducting an annual business meeting for governance, networking, and education. The 80th annual meeting was celebrated at Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, Connecticut.
