Kuhn Begins 50th Anniversary Celebrations

Meriden native Ernest B. Kuhn, founder of Kuhn Employment Opportunities, Inc., would be very pleased to see how his vision has flourished. In 1962, this man of modest means knew that people with disabilities had value and should experience the personal fulfillment of being gainfully employed. Starting with a handful of young men fifty years ago, Kuhn Employment Opportunities now serves over 450 clients with disabilities through its Meriden and Middletown locations. Operating 28 vans with a staff of 80, Kuhn is proud of its 50-year legacy. "We operate by the philosophy that all are program participants are VIP's - Valued by their community, Independent by earning a wage and Proud of the work they do." states Executive Director Robert Stephens. Kuhn plans to invite Chamber members to a variety of celebrations over the next year. The kick-off event will take place at their Annual Board of Director's meeting this October.
