Connex Credit Union Announces Promotions Among 18 Team Members

February 12, 2023

As a result of Connex Credit Union's tremendous growth over the past few years, Frank Mancini, President and CEO, realized it was an ideal time to modify its dated configuration and create an organization that better aligns with Connex's current business needs and is conducive in supporting future growth.

Effective March 1, 2023, Mr. Mancini's re-imagined and modernized operational structure will be implemented with 18 promotions across several business areas. "Please join me in congratulating these promoted employees - they are each deserving and are an integral part of our continued success".

Barbara Bafumi has worked at Connex Credit Union for over 15 years and is responsible for managing the Accounting, Treasury, and Operations areas of the credit union. She also now sits on the Board of Directors of ConnexCares. Barbara is promoted from Assistant Vice President, Controller to Vice President, Controller.

Dave Baker has worked for Connex for the past 8 years and is responsible for facilities management, security, cash technology, and document retention. Dave is promoted from Manager, Operations & Security to Assistant Vice President, Operations & Security.

Jim Balazsi has worked for Connex for almost two years as Director, Loan Servicing. Jim is promoted to Assistant Vice President, Loan Servicing, and will add Indirect lending to his consumer lending operations role.

Dave Birkins is being promoted to Executive Vice President after less than a year as Vice President. Dave has an expansive career in community banking and will have broad responsibility for finance and operations at Connex.

Christen Bowen has been with Connex for the past 26 years and is moving from eServices and Mobile/Analytics Manager to Assistant Vice President of Deposit Operations. Christen will continue to be responsible for electronic bank and card management services.

LeAndre Dupree has been promoted from Community Development Specialist to Assistant Vice President, Community Development. Joining Connex less than a year ago, Lee has done a fantastic job of breathing life into our Community Development efforts.

Melannie Hart has been with Connex for more than 30 years as our Core Administrator. Melannie is promoted to Assistant Vice President, Core Processing and will be a key leader in our ongoing core conversion.

Dennis Klemenz is promoted from Vice President of Information Technology to Senior Vice President, Information Technology. Dennis will continue to lead our digital transformation, technology, and cybersecurity efforts at Connex. Dennis also serves as Vice President of the ConnexCares Charitable Foundation.

Jim Luurtsema working at Connex since 2021 as Director of IT Infrastructure, Jim has an M.S. in Cybersecurity, Networking, and Infrastructure and is promoted to Assistant Vice President, Information Technology.

Nadine Martone has been with Connex for over 4 years as our Director of Member Service, Dina is promoted to Assistant Vice President, Member Service, and will continue to oversee our Call Center, ITM function, and eServices groups.

Suzanne Mink has been with Connex for over 7 years as Assistant Vice President, Consumer Lending, and is promoted to Vice President, Consumer Lending continuing to oversee the consumer retail and mortgage lending segments of our business.

Amy Moquet has been our Director of Human Resources since 2014 and is promoted to Vice President, Human Resources. Amy continues to work with employee staffing, benefits administration, and employee satisfaction, amongst other things.

Louise Nestor has been Director of Marketing for almost 10 years and is promoted to Assistant Vice President, Marketing. Louise is currently leading the Connex rebranding effort and is a Board member of the ConnexCares Charitable Foundation.

Michael Nowicky has been with Connex for 7 years as our Compliance Officer and is promoted to Vice President, Operations. Mike has been instrumental in upgrading our BSA compliance function and improving our internal control structure with key department functions.

Kathleen O'Connor has been with Connex since 1984 overseeing our consumer lending segment as Director, Consumer Lending. Kathleen is promoted to Assistant Vice President, Consumer Lending, responsible for loan originations and underwriting.

Jason Rochefort has been with Connex since 2007 and recently served as Assistant Vice President, Advocacy. Jason is promoted to Vice President continuing his oversight of our 8 branches, retail mortgage lending, and member advocacy efforts.

John Roy has worked at Connex for the past 6 years as our Collections Manager. JR is promoted to Assistant Vice President, Member Payment Solutions, and will continue working on keeping our delinquencies and charge-offs at better than peer levels.

Michael Taylor has been with Connex since 2015 as Assistant Vice President, Indirect Lending, and is promoted to Vice President, Indirect Lending. Mike has achieved tremendous growth in our Indirect Lending segment while maintaining high overall loan quality.

These promotions are an example of our commitment to promote from within and how much we value the dedication, skills, and leadership potential of our own employees. It's a tribute to our ongoing efforts to develop talent and prepare ourselves for future leaders of Connex.
