Workforce Alliance/CTWorks Career Centers Receive 3 Federal Grants to Offer Employers Incentives to Hire

Workforce Alliance offers Ready to Work, the latest of three federally-funded grants, to help 567 unemployed and underemployed who have skills in IT, Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing find employment. The grant features an on-the-job-training incentive to prospective employers. Employers will hire the participants as full-time, regular employees and provide them with an average of 14 weeks of training. The employers will be reimbursed for 50%-75% of employee's wages during the training period. Ready to Work coordinator Steve Johnson matches candidates with opportunities. Employers with a likely employee candidate can take advantage of OJT if they contact us prior to the hire. Jobseekers can also suggest the incentive to employers while interviewing.
