Instruments of Peace

As a part of the Rotary District's Opus for Peace initiative, they welcomed Maestro Diego Carneiro, renowned Brazillian Cellist and Conductor, who Fosters Peace, Prosperity, Environmental and Cultural Preservation through music. He performed two free concerts, one in Madison, hosted by the Madison Rotary Club and one in Meriden, hosted by the Rotary Club of Meriden held at the First Congregational Church. With him were Lithuanian Soprano Jurate Svedaite and Pianist Samuel Oram.He has performed at Rotary's Peace Centers in 2025 with his work which aims to become a lasting anthem for global harmony. He is an award winning peace leader, a Social Entrepreneur, and a Rotary Peace Fellow. He founded the AmazonArt Foundation and has worked extensively with orchestras in Equador.
It was a beautiful evening of classical music to warm everyone on a cold January night in Meriden. They look forward to having him return soon. Thank you to the First Congregational Church of Meriden for providing the Meriden Rotary a venue at which to host and thank you to Grace's Place for providing the pastries for the reception after the concert.
