Eversource Provides Updated Info on Gas Main Work in Meriden

Dear Neighbor, As part of its everyday effort to deliver reliable energy and superior customer service, Eversource Energy has scheduled construction work in your neighborhood. This work will help maintain the reliability of our natural gas distribution system.

Reliability Improvements in Your Neighborhood: Eversource will be working along specific downtown roadways in Meriden, Connecticut, to install gas main that will improve reliability of the gas system.

Starting the week of June 15, 2015, Eversource will be installing 1.5 miles of new gas main. Construction will continue through the end of September. Below is a list of the following streets that will be impacted:

-West Main Street - From Colony Street to Cook Ave; Night schedule
-East Main Street - From State Street to Pratt Street; Night schedule East Main and Pratt Street intersection
-Colony Street - From West Main Street to Cross Street
-Brooks Street - From Colony Street to State Street
-State Street - From Brooks Street to Park Street
-Pratt Street - From East Main Street to Center Street
-Cedar Street - From Pratt Street to Park Street
-Park Street - From Cedar Street to State Street
-Grove Street - From West Main Street 250' north; Night schedule
-South Grove Street - From West Main Street 250' south
-Butler Street - From West Main Street to Hanover Street

If you are a current Eversource gas customer, upon completion of installing the main, we will need to connect the natural gas service line from your home or business to the new gas main system. This will require a temporary disconnect of your service, which should take just a few hours. You will be contacted in advance to schedule an appointment for this work.

What You Can Expect: Our construction work is likely to involve the following:

Crews will work on sections Monday through Thursday nights, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Crews will work on sections Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There will be one to two crews working at multiple sites along the route until the project is complete.
There will be construction vehicles, including heavy equipment.
Police officers or flagmen will oversee traffic control.
Excavation activities may create one-lane passage along affected roads.
We will maintain access to residences and businesses, as well as priority passage of emergency vehicle traffic through construction areas.

Work will take place primarily during daylight hours. The entire project is estimated to continue through the end of September 2015. The construction schedule is subject to change due to weather and other unexpected circumstances.
