Community Health Center, Inc. Celebrates Half-Millionth Vaccine Dose With Donation of $1000 Scholarship to Local Student

Today, CHC administered its half-millionth dose of life-saving COVID-19 vaccines. This milestone was achieved through partnerships with the National Guard, state and local government, and community groups. Health center staff have delivered 1 out of 6 vaccines given in Connecticut, and our teams were out giving these life-saving doses during ice storms, lightning strikes, snow, and severe heat. We greatly appreciate the dedication of everyone who has helped the health center meet this milestone.CHC has donated a $1000 college scholarship to Michael Vargas-Nazario, a 7th-grade student attending a middle school in East Hartford, CT. Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz, State Treasurer Shawn Wooden, and Tim Sullivan, Superintendent of the CREC Schools spoke at the celebration where Mikey received his vaccination and the scholarship.
"It will be today's students who will remember this pandemic and lead us in the future if another crisis comes along," said Mark Masselli, Founder and CEO of CHC. "It represents our commitment to training the next generation of public health leaders."
CHC is proud to be one of the 1,470 community health centers across the nation that have delivered over 10 million vaccine doses as part of the HRSA and the BPHC vaccine initiative.
