MidState Medical Center Announces Lawrence M. McGoldrick as Chairman of the Board of Directors

January 6, 2009

At MidState's recent annual meeting, Larry McGoldrick, President and CEO of Castle Bank and Trust Company, was introduced as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors. He follows the lead of Immediate Past Chair, Gail McCormack, who for the last two years helped spearhead advancement and growth throughout the hospital and the communities it serves. Castle Bank and Trust Company, of which Mr. McGoldrick is primary organizer, opened in 1999. In April 2006, Castle Bank was acquired by Nutmeg Financial, a Mutual Holding Company. Prior to organizing Castle Bank, Mr. McGoldrick held management positions with Bank of Boston, Merrill Lynch and Connecticut Savings Bank. In addition to his involvement with MidState, Mr. McGoldrick is also President of the Meriden Economic Development Corporation (MEDCO) and a member of the Distribution Committee of the CUNO Foundation. Additionally, Mr. McGoldrick co-chaired the Meriden Bicentennial Committee in 2006. He is a former Director and Chairman of the Meriden YMCA and a former Director of the Connecticut Community Bankers' Association, Independent Day School, and Chapel Haven Residence, and is a member of the Advisory Board of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors. Mr. McGoldrick is a life-long resident of Meriden. Mr. McGoldrick's relationship with Meriden's hospital dates back to the 1980's when he sat on the Board of the Meriden Wallingford Hospital Corporation, the for-profit subsidiaries group under that holding company. "The more I became involved with the hospital throughout the years, the more I saw what a wonderful organization it was," shared Mr. McGoldrick. Looking back on his now twenty-year tenure, Mr. McGoldrick is amazed by the growth that has taken place. "What has been most impressive to me is how well MidState management balances the need for financial strength with the provision for patient care," he said.
