Board of Education Community Support Award Presented to 3M Purification of Meriden

The Meriden Board of Education recently started a new award given out at Board of Education meetings to recognize our community partners. The Community Support Award strives to recognize those business partners, organizations, and individuals that have demonstrated outstanding support for our schools.

The first recipient of the Community Support Award was 3M Purification of Meriden. 3M was recognized at the September 6, 2011 Board of Education meeting. Present to accept the award for 3M was Joe Struble, Environmental, Health, and Safety Engineer and Wednesday' Furman, Human Resources Manager.

3M has generously supported our schools by: - donating 200 multimedia projectors for classrooms - donating supplies for our high schools - awarding a 3M Ingenuity Grant to teacher, Gary Maratea, at Washington Middle School - 3M staff donating their time in our elementary schools as part of the Visiting Wizards program - and, two $10,000 3M High School Science grants.

3M is just one of the many business partners the school district collaborates with regularly. The Meriden Board of Education looks forward to recognizing our other community partners in the coming months.
