Eugene Luchansky, Executive Director of the Child Guidance Clinic for Central Connecticut, Inc. is pleased to announce that the Child Guidance Clinic for Central Connecticut is the recipient of a $15,570 grant from the Connecticut Health Foundation to create a resource center and train clinicians in the treatment of children who are diagnosed as having Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Funds from the grant will be used for training staff that are treating children and families with this complex diagnosis. Training will be provided by the CT Autism Spectrum Resource Center. The grant will also provide funds to establish a resource center for families. The center will consist of support, information services, and referral resources that are available in the community.

The Clinic, which was founded in 1957, is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The Clinic provides a continuum of comprehensive mental health and behavioral services including individual and family therapy, parent groups, psychiatric assessment and services and psycho-educational evaluation. Additionally, the Clinic's Family Outreach Program provides home based education, advocacy and case management services. The Clinic has recently been designated as an Enhanced Care Clinic by the Department of Social Services.

As a progressive agency, the Clinic is constantly evaluating its programs and services. The need for a comprehensive approach to the treatment, evaluation and service to those who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder is just one example of the Clinic's ability to meet the needs of the children and families that are served.

For more information regarding the Autism Resource Program contact the Child Guidance Clinic at (203)235-5767.
