BBB Celebrates National Consumer Protection Week!

FEBRUARY 28 - March 6, 2021

National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW) is a time to help people understand their rights as consumers and help them learn what they need to know to make well-informed decisions about money.

In 2020, the number one scam was internet purchases and one of the most prevalent scams was online puppy sales. With so many of us quarantined at home, it wasn't unusual to find people searching online for pets to ease the loneliness of isolation. Unfortunately, more than a few consumers lost money paying for puppies that never arrived.

Today, more and more, consumers are looking to protect themselves from fraud, identity theft, and scams.

BBB serving CT has the resources to answer that need for consumers as well as businesses:
• Complaint Resolution - an opportunity for consumers and businesses to resolve their differences.
• ScamTracker - a place for consumers to file a report if they have been the victim of fraud or an attempted scam.
• AdTruth - gives consumers the tools they need to identify and report bad or suspect advertising.
• Search for a Business - gives consumers a place to search for trustworthy businesses.
