Canberra Industries, Inc. of Meriden Connecticut i ...

December 26, 2002

Canberra Industries, Inc. of Meriden Connecticut is pleased to announce the release of its new Multiport II ADC/MCA NIM Module for Nuclear Spectroscopy. This 2-wide NIM module is a multi-input, 16K Multichannel Analyzer, based on high-performance analog technology that supports from one to six independent MCA/ ADCs. Additional inputs can be added in the field. It is suitable for use with a wide range of radiation detectors: NaI(Tl), HPGe, SiLi, CZT, Plastic, BGO and other detector technologies.

The Multiport II is intended for customers who have existing amplifiers and HVPS, and who need a low cost ADC/MCA to replace outdated ISA bus MCA boards. This unit gives customers the opportunity to move out of bus based products, avoiding slot limitations for multiple inputs, possible future obsolescence and the need to work inside a computer. The Multiport II is supported under Canberra's Genie 2000 V2.1a (or higher) spectroscopy software.

Multiport II features: Integrated NIM MCA based on analog Signal Processing; Full-computer controlled MCA/ADC ; 16K channel spectrum memory and conversion gain ; Fast ADC conversion time (1 s); Performs pulse height (PHA) or multichannel scaling (MCS) analysis ; Ideally suited for multiple or single detector(s) installations which require networking for data transfers or parameters controls; Two communication versions: Ethernet/USB version and USB-only version; Ethernet and USB interfaces allow simple connection to host computer through standard protocols ; No PC plug-in board or specific PC bus slot required; Convenient for NIM applications particularly upgrading systems with existing NIM amplifier and HVPS; Full set of front panel indicators for count rate activity, MCA# and communication activities; Fully buffered memory allowing simultaneous ADC memory write and spectrum transfer to host computer; Supports PUR/LTC and full I/O controls; On-board Automatic Data Saving; Additional information on Canberra's Multiport II can be found at www.canberra.com or contact: Tammy Pattison, Canberra Industries, 800 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450; Phone: 203-238-2351 or E-mail: customersupport@canberra.com.
