The Meriden Health Department is offering several clinics and support groups this month. Beginning October 15th, a free seven week quit smoking support seminar will be held on Tuesdays from 6-7:30 p.m. at 165 Miller Street. The program will include behavior modification, social support, relaxation techniques and maintenance. A quit day is built into the program so that all participants will quit at the same time. Interested parties should call Debbie at 630-4104 - pre-registration is required.

Also, the Senior Center offers a free weekly educational / support group for all Meriden grandparents or relative caregivers raising children. The group meets every Wednesday at the Senior Center, 22 West Main Street in Meriden from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. Transportation is available for people 60 and over. Please call 630-4244 for more information.

Flu clinics will be offered at three locations in October: October 23rd from 9:00 a.m. - noon at the Senior Center; October 24th 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Harbor Towers, 60 Hanover Street; and October 25th from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Community Towers, 55 Willow Street. The cost is $13.00 per inoculation and Medicare Part B will be accepted. Eligible parties include Meriden residents, Seniors over 60, chronically ill individuals, City of Meriden and Board of Ed employees. Those ineligible are people under 18 and anyone allergic to eggs, chicken or chicken feathers. For more information call 630-4234.
