Silver Table Settings: New Exhibit at the Meriden Historical Society Museum

September 21, 2015

The new machine age and ease of plating gave the manufacturers of silver plated wares the ability to literally flood the market with every form and design of useful and ornamental objects for the dining table, dressing table, and hotel and restaurant trade. It was an age of obsessions with table settings, silver, food and huge floral arrangements for homes of the new middle class. (Molly Griffith, Silver Magazine Jan-Feb 1984).

The Meriden Historical Society is proud to present SILVER TABLE SETTINGS, a month long exhibit. On display are useful and ornamental silver items made in Meriden for the dining table, dressing table, child's table and tea tables.

The exhibit may be viewed 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm every Sunday in October at the Andrews Homestead, Historical Society's showcase museum, 424 West Main St., Meriden (between McDonald's and Benjamin Franklin School).

For more information, contact Lesley Solkoske, Exhibit Curator 203 440 - 3686 or Ruth Borsuk, President, 203 237- 8042.
