"The Mayor's Corner" recently aired on Cox Communications' government access Channel 14. The first show featured Police Chief William C. Abbatematteo being interviewed by Mayor Mark D. Benigni and City Manager Roger Kemp. The Mayor chose the Police Chief because he is the newest department head in a high-profile department. The chief addressed such issues as community policing, staffing levels, ways to improve response times to routine calls and the status of hiring a new Deputy Chief. The Mayor was impressed by the Chief's financial knowledge and awareness of the demands of a city budget and every department working to balance its individual budget.
