Meriden Magazine, the city's most recent annual report, offers shiny pages with photos of the most beautiful landmarks. It also contains articles on the city's schools and parks, letters from the City Manager and Mayor, a list of accomplishments, and a calendar of community events. It is intended not only as a directory for residents and newcomers, but also a marketing tool to entice new businesses into the city. City officials send information to Riley and Company, the advertising firm which designs the report. According to City Manager Roger Kemp, Meriden has increased it marketing budget for the new fiscal year. He plans to enter the report in a contest at the University of Connecticut.
