Ashley McCrea and several of her classmates at Washington Middle School have become part of a cooperative work program with MidState Medical Center. By job shadowing workers in various departments, the students are learning important job skills as well as seeing entry-level positions they'll be qualified for in a few years. Their teacher, Jerry Wallack, said that students are learning about different jobs as well as how to work their way up into other positions. Students like Gabe Sepulveda, David Badillo, Jurge Vega, Chris Rosario and Robert Day observed a variety of jobs. Kathy Clements, the patient care services consultant who coordinates the program, said that every time the students come to the program, they go to a different department for observations. The program was arranged through Ms.Clements and is funded by the hospital, which also provides lunch and transportation for the youngsters.
