Senior citizens are now able to get free weekend rides to and from MidState Medical Center; transportation will be provided by using a Kuhn van. There will be eight hourly stops at each of five pickup spots in the city, bringing passenger aged 60 and over to and from the hospital, Westfield ShoppingTown and Waldbaum's. This is part of the result of MidState's move from its Cook Avenue location to the new facility on Lewis Avenue. There will be no cost to the city, according to Roger Kemp, the City Manager. As noted by John Hogarth, the city's director of senior affairs at the Max E. Muravnick Senior Center, one of the gaps cited was the lack of transportation on weekends; so, for people who don't drive, this is a great service.
