MidState Medical Center's Expansion Project Approved

MidState Medical Center announces that it has received approval from the State to move forward with its proposed expansion project. The hospital will proceed with plans for the $45 million, 100,000 square foot expansion, which will include the addition of 54 treatment beds in the new enlarged Emergency Department, construction of a four-story pavilion for increased inpatient beds, shelled space for future growth, and other facility upgrades, such as increased parking and covered patient drop-off area."We are very pleased with the State's approval, which enables us to continue to grow and provide excellent healthcare services to our communities," said Lucille Janatka, President & CEO.
This expansion is MidState's largest construction project to date. In fact, this year, MidState Medical Center celebrates its10th anniversary. The new growth is an extremely positive way to mark the hospital's 10 years of service to the communities it serves in Meriden, Walllingford, Cheshire and Southington.
Completion of the first phase of construction, the new emergency department, is expected in February 2010.
