New Associate Joins Firm

Colin P. Mahon, our newest associate joined the firm in January 2008. Attorney Mahon will concentrate his practice in the areas of personal injury and workers' compensation. Colin graduated with honors (cum laude) from the College of the Holy Cross in 2002 and received his law degree with honors (summa cum laude) from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 2005. While at Quinnipiac, Colin served as a note and casenote editor of the Quinnipiac Law Review. He was also the recipient of several academic achievement awards for his coursework in Contracts, Legal Research and Writing, and Real Estate Transactions. During his second year, he interned for United States District Judge Janet Bond Arterton. Colin is admitted to practice in both the state and federal courts in the state of Connecticut. He previously worked as an associate at Pepe & Hazard LLP in Hartford where he focused his practice on general commercial litigation, including the defense of construction accidents, premises liability cases, and environmental disputes. Colin is actively engaged in several local bar organizations, including the Hartford County Bar Association ("HCBA") and the Connecticut Bar Association ("CBA"). He currently serves as a co-chair of the HCBA's High School Mentoring Program. He is also a co-chair of the CBA's Young Lawyers' Litigation Committee. From 2006 through 2007, he was a pupil in the Oliver Ellsworth Inns of Court. Colin has also been actively involved with the Connecticut Consortium on Legal Education ("CCLE"). He has served as a judge and a speaker at several CCLE-sponsored high school and middle school mock trial competitions. He has also spoken to numerous high school groups in Hartford about contemporary legal issues. Colin is the author of several published articles, including: Simmons v. Roper: Trying to Strike the Balance Between Strictly Obeying Supreme Court Precedent and Overruling Outmoded Concepts of Capital Punishment, 23 Q.L.R. 937 (2004); The Advantages of ADR, Hartford Business Journal, 2006; Getting Off the Hook, Hartford Business Journal, 2007. He also co-authored the article, Irreparable Harm: Dead Letter or Equitable Mainstay?, which appeared in the March 2007 edition of the Connecticut Law Tribune. Colin currently resides in West Hartford.
