The United Way recently distributed about $ one million to 25 community organizations, including the Meriden YMCA and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Meriden and Wallingford. Director Jack Brooks says the organization carefully considers the value of programs and financial need when distributing money. Based on this, the Meriden and Wallingford Boys and Girls Clubs received the highest amount of money. Executive Director Gary Burt of the Meriden Club believes they received the allocation because they have shown they are doing twice as many things.
