August 18, 2000Six local companies have demonstrated their commitment to Meriden and Wallingford by loaning employees to the United Way for the fall fund-raising campaign. They include Alfred S. Belanger and Paul R. Callahan of the TI Group Automotive Systems, Marta P. Bertoldo of Webster Bank, Sharron L. Emmons from Yankee Gas Services, Christine E. Gilmartin at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, Sherre L. Lavigne of Packard BioScience Company and Richard E. Simmons from Cytec Industries. Because the United Way is volunteer-driven and non-profit, the employers of the loaned executives will generously absorb individual salaries during their part-time assignments, thereby keeping the United Way's costs to a minimum.
