Ronald J. Stempien, President, is pleased to welcome the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home into partnership. The joint effort indicates a trend toward shorter funeral services, since families are scattered and calling hours no longer serve as a social event. Smith-Ruzzo was founded at the West Main Street location in 1938 as the John J. Smith Funeral Home. A. John Ruzzo, the father of Robert Ruzzo, bought it in 1952 and changed its name to Smith-Ruzzo in the 1970's. The Stempiens founded their funeral home in 1938, serving the Polish community of Saint Stanislaus Church. Funeral homes were once divided by ethic lines and associated with churches. Ron believes the association will allow two staffs to better serve the diverse needs of the public, since the two families share many years of experience in the profession.
